Ontario Trillium Benefit Payment Dates 2025
The Canada Revenue Agency administers the Ontario Trillium Benefit on behalf of the Ontario province government. This combined benefit covers three credits: the Northern Ontario Energy Credit, the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, and the Ontario Sales Tax Credit.
The OTB payments for 2025 are based on the 2023 income tax, so the final entitlement of the OTB is divided by 12 to present the monthly payments. The agency processes the OTB payments on the 10th of each month for the 2024-25 financial year (July 2024- June 2025).
If the 10th day of the month falls on a public holiday or weekend, the agency will process the payment on the last business day before the payment day. The OTB recipients can mark the payment schedule from below:

How will the OTB payouts be paid?
The OTB recipients receive the OTB payments by direct deposit, if you have not signed up for direct deposit, you may receive it through the traditional method. The recipients receive the payment in lump sum amounts one-time or monthly depending on the following conditions:
- If you receive the OTB benefit of more than $360, you can choose between two options – (i) you will receive monthly payments, (ii) you will receive the benefit payment as a single payment in June 2025
- If your OTB payout is $360 or less, you may have already received the lump sum payment in July 2024.
- If your OTB total is more than $2 but less than $10, your payment may be $10.
- If your OTB payout is $2 or less, you will not qualify for the OTB payments.
How to claim the OTB payment?
The OTB recipients do not have to apply separately for the payout if they have filed their income tax and benefit return for the tax year. The CRA will use your tax information from your filed income tax return.
If you wish to receive all the components of the OTB payments, you need to make sure you have applied for all the credits when you meet the eligibility. To apply for the OEPTC/ NOEC, you should apply through Form ON-BEN.
So, if you wish to receive your OTB benefits make sure you file your income tax return on time even if you have no income to report to the authority. The agency will notify the eligible OTB residents with a notice about their OTB eligibility and payment.
The CRA will issue the OTB payment for 2024-2025 on behalf of the Ontario government if you have filed the income tax return for the 2023 tax year.
