Carbon Tax Rebate Dates 2025: Payment Schedule and Payout Amount!

The fuel charge applies in the provinces of Alberta, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Labrador

In provinces where the federal fuel charge applies, eligible households can get more back through the Canada Carbon Rebate previously known as the CAIP, than they pay as a result of the federal carbon pollution pricing system. Eligible Canadians will receive their upcoming quarterly CCR payment in January 2025.

The CCR is designed to assist offset the costs of carbon pricing that the federal government implements in provinces without their carbon pricing systems meeting federal standards.

Carbon Tax Rebate Dates 2025

All direct fuel charge payments are returned to the province where they were collected, primarily through the quarterly CCR. In provinces where the federal fuel charge applies, a family of four will receive up to $1,800 through CCR in 2024-25. The carbon tax rebate payment is tax-free and delivered quarterly to each eligible Canadian throughout the year.

If individuals satisfy the eligibility requirements of the CCR program, they can expect to receive their rebate payments on the 15th of April, July, October, and January. However, if the 15th falls on a weekend or a federal statutory holiday, the payment will be delivered on the last business day before the 15th of that month.

How can you receive a carbon tax rebate in 2025?

Canadians who are registered for direct deposit with the Canada Revenue Agency will receive CCR payments directly into their bank account every three months. But for those not registered for direct deposit with the Canada Revenue Agency, the Canada Carbon Rebate will be delivered through a paper check.

The bank or direct deposit rebate amount receiving method is the fastest, smoothest, most reliable, and easiest rebate amount delivery method. Individuals cannot face unexpected delays if they select this method.

Individuals who have a spouse or common-law partner, including the person who files their tax return first, will get the Canada Carbon Rebate amount for all family members, including children.
